Художник-карикатурист. Его работы, с сарказмом рассказывающие о современных нравах, были впервые опубликованы в нью-йоркском журнале "Виллидж войс" [Village Voice, The] в 1956 и синдицированы [syndicated column] с 1959. Выступал также как драматург и сценарист (пьеса "Маленькие убийства" ["Little Murders"] (1967) и сценарий "Плотские знания" ["Carnal Knowledge"] (1971).) Лауреат Пулитцеровской премии [Pulitzer Prize] (1986) по разделу карикатур
